Muslim Sociopath,Sergeant Hekmatullah proud of killing three Australian soldiers in Afghan "insider attack"

Disgraced sergeant Hekmatullah shows no remorse for killing of Australian Diggers

Jeremy Kelly in Kabul
Daily Telegraph

January 12,2014

AN AFGHAN soldier on death row for shooting dead three Australian soldiers is unrepentant, saying he should be rewarded and would do it again if released.

Disgraced sergeant Hekmatullah said he became maniacal after an Afghan colleague on the base he was stationed shared with him a mobile phone clip that showed a report about US soldiers burning Korans in Afghanistan.

"There were some real nasty thoughts that I had in my head," he told News Corp Australia in an interview inside Kabul's Pol-e Charkhi prison.

"I saw that video and went crazy."

ARMY FAILED DIGGERS IN AFGHANISTAN: REPORT

HOW SUPER-SPIES TRACKED DOWN HEKAMTULLAH

It is the first time the 19-year-old has spoken publicly and provides a rare insight into the motives of an Afghan security forces member who has turned their gun against a foreign mentor.

Asked what we would like to say to the families of the soldiers he killed, Hekmatullah shrugged nonchalantly before he said: "I want them to forgive me so then I will be released."
When told that appeared unlikely, he replied: "Then don't forgive me. I would do it again if they burned more Korans."

PRIVATE POATE BECOMES PART OF ANZAC LEGEND

SAPPER JAMES MARTIN 'A LOVING SON'

At least 140 Coalition troops, including seven Australians, have been killed in 85 so-called insider attacks, according to the Long War Journal, yet the perpetrators either are killed on the spot or trying to evade capture, or have successfully fled.

Hekmatullah is one of only two known offenders who it is publicly known has been caught and brought before the courts.

Extradited to Kabul in October, after spending about six months on the run in the Pakistan city of Quetta and a further eight months in the custody of that country's spy agency,
Hekmatullah was sentenced to death in December during a secret court hearing.

He admitted to murdering Lance Corporal Stjepan (Rick) Milosevic, 40, Sapper James Martin, 21, and Private Robert Poate, 23 and was convicted also of grievous bodily harm to two other Australians, treason and involvement with a terrorist organisation.

SOLEMN FAREWELL FOR FALLEN SOLDIERS

The Australians were shot while they were relaxing or playing cards in a makeshift recreational area at Patrol Base Wahab, in Oruzgan province on the evening of August 29, 2012.

Hekmatullah's motive had remained unclear since the incident and remains in dispute with Afghan investigators believing he had previous ties to the Taliban

"We have a document that shows he was with the Taliban before this happened," said Brigadier-General Sayed Kamal Hashimi, head of prosecutions for the Afghan spy agency, the National Directorate of Security. He refused to provide details.
Handcuffed and sporting a patchy yet thick beard, in contrast to previous photos of him, Hekmatullah denied he was a Taliban infiltrator and spoke calmly about his short time in the Afghan army and his view on the foreign military presence.

"I had no problem with the Australians. I could have attacked them many times before. They came here to build schools and finish the Taliban but instead they burned Korans."

He was referring to a calamitous incident in February 2012, six months before the shooting, in which US troops started to torch more than 1600 religious texts, including an unknown number of Korans, after they were confiscated from inmates at the then US-run Bagram prison, north of Kabul.

The texts had been marked by inmates with extremist inscriptions but were mistakenly later sent to an incinerator on the base.

The incident led to five days of rioting in Afghanistan, in which dozens of people were killed and hundreds wounded.

When a fellow Afghan soldier gave him via Bluetooth a Taliban propaganda clip, which referenced both the Koran-burning incident and European newspapers publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, he said he started to plot what he called revenge.

"I watched this movie at 3pm. My guard duty was at 9pm and I decided to wait until after then. At first I went to a guard tower and asked the soldier there to give me his machine gun because I said I wanted to shoot the foreigners. He refused so I went down and used my M-16."

He fired two bursts of between 10-15 rounds each before fleeing the base into an area of thick vegetation.
"I ran and ran through the jungle until the helicopters came (about 30 minutes later) but thought they will see me if I keep moving.

"I decided to climb a mulberry tree and stayed there through the night."

In the morning, he said he spotted a farmer and approached him explaining he was an ANA soldier who had shot some foreign troops.

"The farmer told me to wait and soon he returned with two men who said they were Taliban. They gave the farmer 15,000 Pakistani rupees ($160) and we left."

The men ferried him by motorbike to another village where he said he was later put in a 4x4 pick-up, secreted under the cabin's rear seat and was told he was being driven to Kandahar.

"We were stopped on the way at a checkpoint and I could hear people speaking in English. I was told later the foreigners were stopping cars and using their computers to check people's fingerprints."

The trio drove several hours to Kandahar where they stopped for tea before they switched vehicles and drove over the Pakistani border.

He said he was then taken to Quetta, where he said he got a job as a house-hand, earning about $75 a month, before Pakistani spies swooped about six months later.

"I think they caught me because I was using my phone to call my relatives," he said.

Taken to court, a defiant Hekmatullah told the judge: "We are Muslim and it's our duty to protect the Koran. If you were a Muslim, you would give me a prize not a penalty."

He said he asked the judge to release him so he could re-join the Afghan National Army.

Instead, the judge sentenced him to death.

Appearing at times uninterested in his plight, Hekmatullah said he was willing to die in defence of his religion.

"If I die on the way to Allah, then so be it. If someone wants me to hang, then I will hang."

His case will now go to an appeal court before it is finalised by the Supreme Court in a process that usually takes months.

Any execution has to be personally approved by the Afghan President.

"The Australian Government as a matter of policy is opposed to the death penalty and makes its views known to foreign governments, including the Afghanistan government, on a regular basis," said a Defence spokesperson.

"However it is important to note, Hekmatullah is an Afghan citizen being tried by Afghan authorities under Afghan law."

According to the spokesperson, victim impact statements from the families of the murdered Australian soldiers were provided to the Afghan authority to support the prosecution of charges against Hekmatullah.

But Defence were unaware of any requests of forgiveness made to the families.

Australia's Finest: Commando Sergeant Paul Cale

Diggers defend killer Commando Sergeant Paul Cale

Commando who strangled Taliban commander defends his actions
"I fought alongside Muslims and we were great friends"
Paul Cale poached to train US Special Forces

Sergeant Paul Cale, an elite soldier from Sydney's 2 Commando Regiment, was forced to kill an enemy fighter with his bare hands when his platoon was ambushed while on a mission in the restive Chora region.

The Commando, known as "JJ" to his army mates, yesterday spoke out for the first time about the fated night-mission which motivated him to develop a world-leading close-quarter fighting course.

Interview with Sgt. Paul Cale

As readers expressed mixed responses to the story online, Sgt Cale and his fellow Commandos strongly defended his actions.
"I have to live with my actions every moment of every day," Sgt Cale told news.com.au today.
"It's my life. It's something that happened to me.
"These are the facts of war.
"When countries go to war this is what happens – there's nothing pretty about it."

After the incident, during his 2007 deployment, the 44-year-old martial artist dedicated himself to developing the Australian Commando Integrated Combat package, which is now being used to train US Special Forces.

News.com.au yesterday revealed that Sgt Cale, one of Australia's toughest men, had been poached by the US military after showing his program to US army chiefs at an international skills symposium.
One Special Forces operative, who fought alongside Sgt Cale throughout his 2007 deployment, today spoke out about losing a mate who was fatally shot in a similar ambush.

"JJ had already begun instructing CQC (close quarter combat) before his '07 deployment. I was on one of his first courses," he said.
"A real warrior who lives and breathes his art and one of the nicest blokes I've met.
"For all you bleeding hearts out there that think these Taliban are pleasant, gentle souls, in a very similar scenario on that same deployment JJ and Australia lost a warrior when he was shot and killed making entry into a compound."

Another Commando, who served alongside Sgt Cale in 2010, said he had been "instrumental" to his platoon's survival during the protracted battle of Zabat Kalay.
That mission saw two Commandos wounded and nine valuable Taliban targets killed. Five Commandos also received Gallantry awards for their actions.

Former Yankee Platoon Commander with Delta Company, Major Bram Connolly – who was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal before leaving the defence force – said Sgt Cale had taught his men "critical skills".
"He was instrumental in the platoon being able to use both lethal and less than lethal force while engaged in room combat," he said.

"The techniques taught by Paul to disarm enemy combatants and retain our own weapons was a critical skill that enhanced our strategy of working within the local population in support of the Afghan partner force.

"Paul was a great Platoon Sergeant and his guidance to the young soldiers kept them grounded during our deployment.
"He ran CQF training every second night for both our platoon and the American SF."
Sgt Cale said that while the response to his story was overwhelmingly positive, he said too many Australians misunderstood our country's role in the conflict.

"I fought alongside Muslims and we were great friends," he said.
"We were there supporting them in establishing the rule of law.
"The only thing we're fighting is extremism and people who believe they have the right to harm others for the sake of their beliefs.
"We're there protecting them and helping the Afghans who have stayed in their country and are fighting for the peace and security of their country."

Since its 2010 implementation, the course created by Sgt Cale at Sydney's Holsworthy Barracks has changed the way our top troops train for modern warfare.
"Out of that (2007) event I realised that what we're teaching is north compared to south ... so I reconstructed the entire CQF (close-quarter fighting) program," he said.

"They were basically looking at what we do and when one of their Navy Seals saw our program … he said it was 18 months ahead of anything they'd ever seen in the world.
"The US Special Forces guys sent their instructors over here to work with me through our entire package and went back to the States and introduced it into their package."

The father of two, who used his civilian martial arts training to develop the program, will soon split his time between the US and Australia as he delivers it to the Green Berets with business partner, former Western Australian police detective, Bleddyn 'Taff' Davies.

Pakistani men beaten and shaved by Taliban for listening to music

Taliban militans shave four men as punishment for listening to music

From correspondents in Peshawar, Pakistan
News.com.au
April 26, 2009 05:38pm

TALIBAN militants in northwest Buner district shaved the heads and moustaches of four Pakistani men as punishment for listening to music, one of the men said.

Buner has been subject to huge US concern after hundreds of Taliban fighters advanced into the area from the neighbouring Swat, where the hardliners fought a brutal, nearly two-year insurgency to enforce Islamic law.

"I was with three other friends in my car, listening to music when armed Taliban stopped us and, after smashing cassettes and the cassette player, they shaved half our heads and moustaches,'' he said.

"The Taliban also beat us and asked us not to listen to music ever again,'' said the terrified man.

Local police said they had no information about the incident.

The victim said neither he nor his friends lodged a complaint with police, as this would have been "useless.''

"It might have annoyed the Taliban further and I fear for my life,'' the man said.

Residents in Mingora, the main town in Swat, said Taliban posters had been put up in streets and markets ordering women not to go shopping.

The posters had appeared after the Taliban's controversial agreement with the government to enforce Islamic law in the region.

"We will take action against women who go out shopping in the markets and any shopkeeper seen dealing with women shoppers will be dealt with severely,'' read the poster from the Swat branch of Tehreek-e-Taliban.

"The peace agreement does not mean that obscenity should be re-born,'' it added.

Hardline Islamists in the extremist Taliban consider it "obscene'' for women to leave their homes, and ban females from venturing out in public without an immediate male relative -- namely a father, brother, son or husband.

For years, Swat was a popular ski resort frequented by Westerners but the Pakistani government effectively lost control of the mountainous district after the violent Taliban campaign to enforce sharia law.

Afghanistan:100 Taliban taken by Austyralian "Combat Team Tusk"

Australians take 100 Taliban

By IAN McPHEDRAN in Tarin Kowt
The Sunday Telegraph
April 25, 2009 06:57pm

AUSTRALIAN soldiers have killed more than 100 Taliban fighters and disrupted vast enemy networks in two of the biggest and most successful operations of the six-year Afghanistan campaign.
Details of the offensive were revealed during a secret visit to Afghanistan for Anzac Day by Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon who was accompanied by News Limited.

Operation Aabitoorah or Blue Sword began on March 19 in the northern Helmand province, south of the Australian base in Oruzgan Province and involved Dutch, British, American, Australian and Afghani forces.

The second, called Operation Shak Hawel or Mysterious Area, was fought by troops from the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force between April 3 and 15 around Patrol Base Buman in the Chora Valley north of Tarin Kowt.

More than 200 diggers or almost half of the battle group led by Darwin based Lieutenant Colonel Shane Gabriel took part with an Afghan National Army battalion.

During the biggest battle on April 12 dozens of Taliban fighters perished as they attempted to defeat the diggers from Combat Team Tusk in the fertile green belt.

"They tried to stop us doing what we wanted to do and they came off second best,'' Lt Colonel Gabriel told News Limited.

Troops from the task force have been engaged in numerous heavy fire fights during offensive patrols to mentor and instruct their Afghan comrades.

Mr Fitzgibbon received full details of the operations and spoke to the troops during a secret two-day tour of Australian bases in the lead up to Anzac Day at Tarin Kowt where Vietnam war hero and Victoria Cross holder Keith Payne was the guest of honour.

Mr Fitzgibbon became the first Australian minister to venture "outside the wire'' flying in a Chinook chopper low along the fertile valleys to forward operating bases framed by snow capped peaks, to judge the progress for himself.

Australian commander Major General Mark Kelly said Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) troops from the Perth based SAS Regiment and Sydney based Commando Regiment operated deep inside a Taliban stronghold for 26 days during "Blue Sword".

He said the number of enemy dead was not a measure of success, but he told News Limited that the tally was in excess of 80.

"It is a significant achievement by our soldiers over an extended combat mission.

"It has really disrupted the insurgent network in this part of regional command south,'' General Kelly said.

The specialist diggers were attacked by roadside bombs, rocket propelled grenades, mortars and small arms fire and despite the intensity of the action just one Australian, Sydney based bomb disposal expert Sergeant Brett Till, was killed and four others wounded including one who lost his legs.

In addition to the number of enemy casualties, including bomb maker and leader Mullah Abdul Bari, the Australians uncovered numerous weapons caches and up to 14 improvised explosive devices in a day.

Mr Fitzgibbon, who toured Australian built hospitals and schools as well as fighting bases, said the latest operations were a major setback for the Taliban.

He said it was vital for the Australian people to understand these intense and deadly operations and just how dangerous and challenging the job was for the diggers.

"We are making real progress in Afghanistan.

"I wish to thank every man and woman in the Australian Defence Force who is making a contribution to what is a very important campaign,'' Mr Fitzgibbon said.

Commander of Regional Command South Dutch Major-General Mart de Kraif said the operation had disrupted insurgent activities including the drugs trade.

He said Australian special-forces troops had applied massive pressure to the insurgent leadership.

Sydney's Occupied Territories: Islamic youth group deny Hamas Taliban ties

Lakemba mosque rebel youth group say Taliban, Hamas links false

By Rhys Haynes
The Daily Telegraph
March 20, 2009 02:00pm

A REBEL youth group outside Sydney's Lakemba mosque have distributed a leaflet saying claims they are linked with the Taliban or Hamas are false and dangerous.

The leaflet, headlined 'The Important Announcement to the Muslim community from the youth and the brothers of Lakemba mosque', states: "During last Friday's sermon we were accused of being extremists who are 'brainwashed' supporting the Taliban.

"This is a very dangerous accusation because it puts innocent people in danger of being arrested for these serious terrorist charges and immediately imprisoned."

The leaflet also describes the need to "clarify some points to the community and especially for the Fathers and Mothers".

Armed detectives are patrolling the streets surrounding the mosque where today's sermon has begun.

The sermon has been shrouded with controversy after tensions within the Muslim community escalated when Sheik Taj el-Dene Elhilaly's claimed some of the young men that oppose him are terrorists.

At last week's sermon, aired on Muslim radio, he also said: "We should call (Taliban leader) Muallah Omar and declare that we have Taliban in Lakemba."

He added: "I feel there are hidden fingers that are controlling our naive sons."

Sheik Taj el-Dene Elhilaly has also been caught up in an act of vandalism last week - minutes before reporting it to police.

Muslim youths believe the sheik staged the vandalism - when he kicked in a door to an office - to frame them and gain public support before he was unwittingly caught on security footage.

In turn Sheik Hilaly, who denies the allegations, believes he has been set up.

Obama bitch slapped by "Moderate Taliban"

Obama being illogical - Taliban

News.com.au
March 10, 2009 06:28pm

AFGHANISTAN'S Taliban today turned down as illogical US President Barack Obama's bid to reach out to moderate elements of the insurgents, saying the exit of foreign troops was the only solution for ending the war.

Mr Obama, in an interview with the New York Times, expressed an openness to adapting tactics in Afghanistan that had been used in Iraq to reach out to moderate elements there.

"This does not require any response or reaction for this is illogical," Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a purported spokesman for the insurgent group, said when asked if its top leader Mullah Mohammad Omar would make any comment about Mr Obama's proposal.

"The Taliban are united, have one leader, one aim, one policy...I do not know why they are talking about moderate Taliban and what it means?

"If it means those who are not fighting and are sitting in their homes, then talking to them is meaningless. This really is surprising the Taliban."

In Iraq, the use of Sunni Muslim community leaders to employ their people to patrol their neighbourhoods has been credited as one of the main reasons behind sharp falls in violence.

Mr Obama did point out that compared to Iraq, the situation was more complex in Afghanistan, where nearly 70,000 foreign troops, 38,000 of them American, are due to be joined in coming months by another 17,000 US soldiers.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who has been leading Afghanistan since US-led troops overthrew the Taliban in an invasion in 2001, welcomed Mr Obama's proposal.

The number of foreign troops in Afghanistan has risen steadily since Taliban's ouster after they refused to hand over al-Qaeda leaders responsible for the September 11 attacks on the US.

So has the level of Taliban attacks against the Government and foreign forces, prompting Mr Obama to term Afghanistan as a top foreign policy priority for his new administration.

Some Western politicians and military officers now say the war cannot be won by military means alone and a solution will have to involve some form of reconciliation.

Yousuf said expulsion of foreign troops was the only solution for Afghanistan's spiraling violence.

"Afghans know better how to decide about their destiny," he replied when asked if the Taliban were willing to hold talks with Karzai's Government should and when the troops leave.

Since "Community organizer" Obama took office,North Korea has told him / the USA to piss off or they will blow them away with a nuke, China is harassing US naval ships as I write, Hugo Chavez is emboldened to the point of laughing out loud at the USA,Russia is flying through the skies wherever and whenever it wants messing with US planes,Iran has promised to implement it's nuclear capacity to blow Israel off the map,the NY stock exchange is at it's lowest point of any new administration in 90 years, and the Taliban, aka Islamic Sociopaths Inc. or "moderate Taliban / Islam" have accused him of been "illogical".

Why ?...... because now THEY can.
This master tactician, this master community organizer is surely just lulling these pricks into a false sense of security.... Isn't he?

Pakistan falls to Sharia Law (or it's now official")

Smith announces more Pakistani troops

SkyNews

Updated: 17:48,
Tuesday February 17, 2009

Australian foreign minister Stephen Smith has announced a four-fold increase in the numbers of Pakistani government military officers to be trained in Australia.

Speaking at the beginning of a three-day visit to Pakistan, Smith said the decision would 'raise the numbers to 40 to 50 officers'.

With around 1,100 Australian troops already stationed in neighbouring Afghanistan, Smith also said Australia was ready to respond positively if the US asked it to provide more troops to stabilise the situation in Afghanistan.

Smith's visit came as the government in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP) signed an agreement with the radical cleric Maulana Sufi Mohammad.

Mohammad is a supporter of the pro-Taliban militants fighting for the enforcement of Islamic Sharia law in Swat, located just 160km from Islamabad.

Under the deal, the government will set up Islamic courts to provide speedy justice to people and end security operations in the region.

Smith, the first Australian foreign minister to visit Pakistan in a decade, welcomed the deal.

'It is a positive development and we hope for a positive outcome,' he told a joint press conference with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Smith also flew to the NWFP's provincial capital Peshawar and Khyber pass, the historic border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

More than 120,000 Pakistani troops are fighting Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters entrenched in its lawless tribal area bordering Afghanistan. They have suffered hundreds of casualties while fighting insurgents.

Smith also said military enforcement was not enough to fight terrorism and it was important to build the capacity of the civilian government and engage moderate elements through political dialogue.

Qureshi said: 'The war against terror could not be won by military means alone and that a multi-pronged strategy was required to root out the causes of terrorism and win the hearts and minds of the people.'
